A new incubator dedicated to startups active in the transport and logistics sector, entitled “Naql Tech” has been inaugurated on Tuesday by Algeria’s Minister of Transport, Lazhar Hani, accompanied by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Brahim Boumzar and the Minister of Startups and Knowledge Economy, Oualid El-Mahdi Yacine.
The incubator, located at the training center of the Urban and Suburban Transport Establishment of Algiers (ETUSA), hosts a dozen innovative startups in the transport and logistics sectors ranging from information to real time to the data city via digital logistics platforms.

- During his speech on this occasion, the Minister of Transport underlined the importance of the use of digital technologies in this sector, “a service sector par excellence”.
- For his part, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications praised the opportunity presented by this structure to welcome innovative youth who create wealth. He assured that this initiative of the Ministry of Transport will contribute to the facilitation of procedures by removing bureaucracy in the face of innovative projects. Mr. Boumzar thus indicated that the experience acquired at the level of the Sidi Abdallah incubator can be made available to this new structure in order to support the creation of national content in digital terms.
- For his part, the Minister of Startups and the Knowledge Economy has indicated that this incubator is part of the support structures for startups, explaining that this new structure should allow project leaders in the transport sector to benefit from training and to implement their projects in a concrete way for the benefit of the transport sector with the collaboration of public transport companies and the ministry.
“This incubator is a bridge between the promoters of innovative projects and the supervisory ministry,” he said, recalling that within his ministerial department, several start-ups in the transport sector have been supported.

- In addition, Mr. Oualid noted the interest of encouraging the creation of incubators and any support mechanism for these innovative projects, “far from the obstacles that could hinder their activity”, adding that innovation is necessary to build a new business model.
- For his part, the project director of this incubator, Mehdi Omarouayache, felt that transport represents a key sector involved in a spillover effect on other sectors. This sector itself is taken into consideration, he recalled, as a criterion for assessing the competitiveness of the territories.
“We must rely on our available skills to rationalize transport and logistics costs,” he said, stressing the high level of competence of start-ups and project leaders from different wilayas of the country.
- The same manager also indicated that this new incubator will allow startups in the transport-logistics sector to be supported in their search for funding, in the development of their business plans and in the development of their networks and their visibility. .
