Craydel, a Kenyan edtech start-up,has received an early-stage financing round led by Enza Capital. Reshaad Sha’s AI investment fund BriteGaze, as well as the Future of Learning Fund and two US-based firms Bisk Ventures and Tekton Ventures, participated in the pre-seed round. With this investment, Craydel will be able to improve its search and recommendation engine, allowing it to provide more accurate choices in its career match evaluation.
Craydel was founded in 2021 by Manish Sardana, John Nguru, and Shayne Aman Premji with the goal of democratizing higher education by giving students access to a wide range of courses from universities all across the world. In order to fulfill its goal of becoming the most powerful higher education recommendation engine with the greatest inventory of excellent programs on the world, the platform has partnered with more than 90 universities and colleges across Africa and overseas.
The web-based portal, which is free to use, allows students and professionals to compare the costs of courses from other colleges. Each journey starts with a psychometric evaluation that matches the user to a career route.

The portal currently has over 100 institutions listed. Higher education investment in Africa is expected to skyrocket in the future years, with the sub-Saharan Africa sector’s $20 billion valuation expected to skyrocket.
Reshaad Sha, the former CEO of Liquid Telecom SA, created BriteGaze at the end of 2020 with the goal of collecting an R500 million investment fund to support AI ventures in Africa.
