AfiyaSasa Africa (ASA), a Tanzanian med-tech startup, is close to finalizing a transaction with Xcelerate Inc., a medical technology services provider based in the United States, in which it will yield a majority position to the company.
Dilan Ellegala, a world-renowned Tanzanian spinal surgery doctor, launched ASA, a virtual health company. It connects people in underdeveloped countries with doctors through its platform, which helps them achieve their medical needs.
The ASA platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) developed by AdviNOW to link people in rural places with inadequate medical facilities and few medical experts.

ASA will sell a majority 51 percent stake in its platform to the American company under the membership interest acquisition agreement.
Patients can use their mobile phones, tablets, and computers to access the platform, which allows licensed physicians and other medical workers to conduct virtual checks and select the best course of treatment. It also has facial recognition and storing capabilities, allowing it to recognize returning patients.
The platform allows measures to be obtained using medical devices connected to a smartphone, tablet, or computer utilizing sets of questions and responses that are dynamically combined with its proprietary AI, bringing the telemedicine virtual appointment to the next level.
