Orange, a mobile phone service provider, and the German Cooperation (GIZ) have just opened up a brand new digital centre called “Orange Digital Center.” The technological centre had its official opening in the presence of Brelotte Ba, who is the deputy general manager of Orange for Africa and the Middle East. The centre, which has its headquarters in Monrovia and is accessible to anybody and everyone, is completely devoted to the cultivation of digital skills and creativity.
“Today, I am extremely delighted to open the 11th Orange Digital Center in Liberia. This centre is part of the Orange Group’s network of 32 Orange Digital Centers, which will be deployed not only in Africa and the Middle East, but also in Europe…. “ According to Brelotte Ba, “the goal is to democratise access to digital technology for young people, whether graduates or non-graduates, to offer them access to the newest technical skills in order to increase their employability, and to prepare them for the occupations of the future.”
A Code School, a Solidarity FabLab digital manufacturing workshop of the Orange Foundation, and an Orange Fab start-up accelerator, all of which are supported by Orange Ventures, the investment fund of the Orange Group, are brought together in this space, which was built on an area of 715 square metres. Every one of the programmes includes ninety percent hands-on instruction in digital technology, assistance for project managers, accelerated start-up growth, and financial investment in those businesses.

The digital centre, which has been operational since January 2022, has already hosted a number of digital training courses and events. Additionally, the centre intends to deploy Orange Digital Center Clubs, which will serve as extensions of the School of Code within partner universities located throughout the regions. The goal is to provide as many young people as possible with access to cutting-edge technology and to assist them in making the most of such technologies.
After Tunisia, Senegal, Ethiopia, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Madagascar, and Morocco, this is the 11th Orange Digital Center to open in Africa and the Middle East. It is completely consistent with Orange’s strategy in support of digital inclusion and intends, according to Jakob Haselhuber, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Liberia, to “urge everyone to take use of digital opportunities and work hard to bridge the digital gap.“
