Algeria Launches TV Show “Ibtikar” To Fund Tech Startups

In a statement issued, Algeria ’s Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of the Knowledge Economy and Startups has announced the launch of Ibtikar, the first Algerian television program dedicated to innovation.”

This program, dubbed “Ibtikar,” will allow entrepreneurs seeking finance to present and defend their projects in front of a jury of investors and business executives (business angels). The idea is to help them raise funding to grow their enterprises.

Younes Sabeur Chérif, communication advisor to the Prime Minister’s Delegate in charge of the Knowledge Economy and Startups, outlines the goals of this new program as “support, counsel, and financing.”

“Ibtikar will recognize startup entrepreneurs seeking finance. They will have to persuade a jury of the importance of their initiatives in order to raise funding, but they will also receive advise on how to build their start-ups as much as possible,” he stated in a statement. “Each show will have a different jury, depending on the theme. For example, if an episode is on fintech, the jury will consist of professionals from that field.”

 Sabeur Chérif says the show is an Algerian idea. “What is provided on the show will be different from what is provided elsewhere. The presentation will be tailored to the Algerian environment,’’ he said. 

Ibtikar casting is currently available.

owever, the broadcast date and channel have yet to be determined.
