Inside The First Ever Local Esport Contest In Egypt

Free Fire: Battle of Egypt, the biggest Free Fire offline Esports tournament in Egypt, concluded its championship on Saturday in presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and Head of Garena Middle East and Africa Hans Saleh.

The grand final ceremony held at Hassan Mostafa Sports Complex in 6th of October City, gathering more than 3,000 Free Fire Esports fans witnessing 50 of the best finalists competed to win the biggest share of EGP 500,000.

The winners include Samy Reda Ali Mohamed from Mansoura, Youssef Farag from Giza, Mohamed Ashraf Salah from Cairo, Belal Elsayed Mohamed from Alexandria, and Mohamed Omar Kelany from Giza. The grand finals was also participated by a female finalist, Salma Gamal Ali El-Auoti from Damietta.

This tournament was held under the patronage of Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Egyptian Federation for Electronic Sports.

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy expressed his pleasure for hosting such a championship that witnessed a massive turn out from young people.

The minister also asserted the youth ministry’s keen interest in supporting the Egyptian Federation for Electronic Sports’s vision and plans that aims at spreading the e-sport games across the country as well as holding competitions and grand championships in cooperation with the e-gaming developers and publishers.

Garena Middle East and Africa Hans Saleh said : “Free Fire: The Battle of Egypt enables our players and communities in Egypt to realize their potential and achieve greater heights in the Esports industry. We will continue to focus on strengthening the Esports community in Egypt, and develop a pipeline of Egyptian Esports athletes who will be able to represent Egypt with pride at international championships”.

Saleh also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports the Egyptian Federation for Electronic Sports for supporting the Free Fire: The Battle of Egypt championship.

The championship kicked off in July 2022 with total awards hit EGP 500,000. 16,700 of the best players in Egypt had registered, over 70,000 views for the livestream on YouTube.
