South African Genomics Startup, BixBio, Secures Funding
BixBio, an African genomics business based in Cape Town, has received an unknown amount of funding from the Illumina Accelerator.
Not only has the tech firm received cash, but it has also been chosen as one of seven new genomic startups to participate in the Illumina Accelerator’s third global funding round.

The accelerator is dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs and companies in the genomic medical industry that are working to develop novel goods and solutions.
The selected seven genomic firms will receive seed investment capital as well as access to Illumina sequencing systems and reagents as part of the accelerator. They’ll also get business advice, genomics knowledge, and fully functioning lab space near Illumina’s campuses in Cambridge, UK, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
BixBio will spend the next six months in Cambridge, taking advantage of the Illumina Accelerator’s knowledge, networks, and worldwide reach, according to reports.

After securing money from One Bio Venture Studio, the unique local biotech business has now received a second investment.
