Nigerian Bank, FCMB, Is Inviting Nigerian Agritech Startups To Pitch Under This New Programme

This is a huge chance for agritech startups across Nigeria. First City Monument Bank (FCMB), one of Nigeria’s biggest financial players in the development of the country’s agriculture sector, has announced the 2020 edition of the FCMB Agritech Epic Pitch. Now in its 3rd Year, the 2020 edition of the FCMB Agritech Epic Pitch will be implemented through Hub One (the Bank’s tech Hub located in Lagos, Nigeria) in partnership with Passion Incubator, a Lagos-based early-stage tech incubator, and accelerator.

“We are passionate about supporting Nigeria’s tech ecosystem and this initiative is one of the ways through which we are building and accelerating the growth of the Agritech Startups in Nigeria, as well as the larger African continent,” said Rolayo Akhigbe, Divisional Head, Transaction Banking, FCMB.

Here Is All You Need To Know

The goal of the 2020 incubation is to:

  • Support at least top 2 Agritech startups in Nigeria with seed investments and grants, of ₦1.5 million ($3.8k). 
  • Access to workspace, market & network that stimulates innovation, collaboration and business growth.
  • Provide opportunities to connect with potential customers and investors.

What Are Expected of Prospective Applicants

  • The 2020 edition of the program will focus on the following Agricultural value chain solutions;

-Processing/Production/Storage
– Agricultural Finance
– Agricultural Marketing
– Supply chain

  • Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s edition would be a virtual engagement.

Hub One was created in February 2019 by FCMB as a tech-themed co-working space. Its physical spaces, network and resources allow for partnerships, collaborations, and possible investments. It is a professional office space with unlimited internet, constant power supply, free coffee and a community of like minds.
