Raxio Data Centre Uganda Gets Uptime Institute Tier III Certification

Uganda’s leading data centre, Raxio has officially received the Uptime Institute Tier III Certification making it the first Tier III Certified Data Centre in Uganda. Established in 2020, Raxio Data Centre is one of the top 10 privately owned, carrier-neutral data centres in Africa housing an estimated amount of 400 racks and delivering 1.5 MW of IT power. Before awarding the certification, experts from the Uptime Institute team in the US and the UK evaluated Raxio Data Centre’s design and equipment to ensure it met the requirements of Uptime’s Tier III Certification.

This is a welcome development because Raxio Data Centre hosts the Uganda Internet eXchange Point where networks are given the opportunity to directly interconnect and exchange data traffic at a common point. The Uganda Internet eXchange Point leads to a cheaper, faster, and more reliable internet. In addition, Raxio Data Centre’s facility implements sustainable features that were developed to reduce the rising costs of energy and ensure consideration of the environment by using international engineering and operations standards. Established by a Roha Group company, First Brick Holdings (FBH), The Raxio Data Centre builds the foundation of the digital economy across Eastern and Southern Africa. It is a colocation facility that allows businesses to rent space for servers and other computing hardware. According to James Byaruhanga, General Manager at the Raxio Data Centre, the Tier III Certification achievement validates that Raxio Data Centre meets the global standards of contemporary data centres.

The success of the evaluation awarded Raxio Data Centre the Tier III Certification, allowing customers to receive certified services.
