6 African Startups To Pitch International Investors At LabEight Africa Demo Day

On Thursday, July 8, 2021, at WAT, 5 p.m, six carefully selected African startups will pitch their solutions in front of an international audience at LabEight* Africa’s Launchpad The Spring Cohort 2 Demo Day. The event is organised to showcase and celebrate the achievements of the LabEight* Africa Launchpad Cohort 2 startup companies.

“Events like this are essential to help move the African start-up ecosystem forward and advance the local economy. Our ambition for LabEight* Africa is to be a meeting point between corporates and start-ups in the African tech ecosystem”, explained Joy Jack,  Managing Partner of LabEight Africa.

Here Is What You Need To Know

  • The LabEight* Africa Launchpad program was created to help entrepreneurs turn their creative ideas into profitable businesses. A dedicated Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR), one-on-one mentoring with prominent tech founders, pitch coaching, investment preparedness programs, investor introductions, and other resources are provided to cohort startups.
  • During the 12 week program, 2 companies of the 6 companies won pitch competitions, others completed pilots, proof of concepts or deals with partners and brands facilitated by LabEight* Africa.
  • The Demo Day is expected to draw a large number of local and national investors. Several representatives of the global start-up community, VC investors interested in the African market, partners, other accelerators, enterprises, and organizations interested in supporting the graduating startups will attend the event.

The Selected Startups

FinTech, AgTech, InsureTech, Mobility & Gig Economy are among the six companies presenting on the Demo Day. They are:

  • AquaFarms Africa: AquaFarms Africa (AFA) is marking urban agriculture accessible through social franchising aquaponics systems.
  • Echoboo: A platform that connects local service providers with clients in real-time.
  • T40: T40 is building a platform that is providing digital access and distribution for intercity transport service providers across Africa.
  • CrossPoint: CrossPoint Insure simplifies insurance for individuals & organizations through intelligent policy matching.
  • LooseChange: An e-wallet financial technology solution for the underbanked and underserved.
  • Regxta: RegXTA creates financial data for the informal sector through financial inclusion and social impact services.

Following the presentations, all guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and debate relevant prospects and trends connected to the African start-up ecosystem outside of the event.
