Kwipay Launches Kiwigo, An Electronic Customs Clearance App In Cameroon

Cameroonian Customs, the Bolloré Logistics group, and Kwipay Central Africa have chosen to establish a platform that would allow electronic clearance of goods and services bought from overseas. This means that a person from Cameroon can now place a purchase order on Amazon and have it delivered to Cameroon using legal routes via Kiwigo

The agreement between the Director General of Customs, the Director of Kiwipay Central Africa, the proprietor of the “Kiwigo” application, and the Gulf of Guinea Regional Director of Bolloré Transports and Logistics was signed in Yaoundé, Cameroun’s capital.

“Kiwigo will simply provide all Cameroonians with access to platforms such as Amazon, as well as services such as Uber. It helps you globalize your phone if you’re familiar with how Uber operates. For Food Delivery, we use the same program. There are people who can put their store online for free, with visibility, and with the ability for all customers to order from these stores via the Internet and pay with their mobile money account,” Director of Kiwipay Central Africa, Christophe Nicolas, remarked.

Cameroonian Customs, for its part, will “levy a single rate of customs duties and taxes over the entire spectrum of products available on Kiwigo’s worldwide marketplace. Regardless of the end consumer’s tax status in C, this rate is 44 percent of the package’s worth in “FCFA.” “”meroon” is the project’s name. Bolloré Transport and Logistics is an authorised Customs Commissioner with Cameroonian Customs under a memorandum of understanding. This arrangement, according to Serges Agnero, Regional Director of Bolloré Transports and Logistics for the Gulf of Guinea, would assist speed up the rest of the process while assuring traceability and security of procedures.
