The Moroccan Retail Tech Builder (MRTB), the first Venture Builder in Morocco and Africa that focuses on the digitalization of commerce and retail-tech, has opened its doors.

“We see this incubation and acceleration platform, which is in line with our efforts to support the national entrepreneurial ecosystem, as a place where startups can work together and share their knowledge and ideas. This is a place where they can come up with new ideas that will benefit not only our country, but the whole African continent,” Abdelhadi Sohib, Secretary General of the OCP Foundation said at the launch

Here Is What You Need To Know

  • MRTB, which is the first Venture Builder in Morocco and Africa that focuses on the digitization of commerce, wants to help 100 project leaders come up with new digital solutions that will help merchants. Beneficiaries will be able to use simple and accessible digital tools to help them modernize and make money.
  • This is a government initiative that is part of the Recovery Plan for the Commerce sector in Morocco. It makes digitalization one of the main ways to make the sector more competitive.
  • The project is based on the economic and institutional reforms made by the King of Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The project intends to speed up digital transformation, make digital services more widespread, and make administrative procedures and formalities easier for users.
  • To do its job, the Moroccan Retail Tech Builder (MRTB) is starting a public relations campaign to find 100 startups that will get help from the National Platform for the Digitization of Commerce “Moroccan Retail Tech Builder” (MRTB). As of now, this offer is good until 2024. It focuses on the growth, creation, incubation, and preincubation of Moroccan businesses that use digital technology to help businesses in the trade sector.

“The digital transformation of all of the major parts of the economy is now over and done with. As a major part of the national and African economy, the trade sector is already seeing a lot of changes in how it works thanks to digital technology. It’s hard for us to keep up with all the new ideas and potential in this area. We all need to support, incubate, and speed up startups and promising project leaders in retail. The Start Gate campus of start-ups has been a part of UM6P’s work since it was started. It is a way for the community to make their ideas come to life. Because of the Moroccan Retail Tech Builder, this momentum will be able to move into high gear for big changes in the economy and society,” Hicham El Habti, President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University said.
