Nigerian, Ethiopian Startups Invited to Apply for Food Safety Programme

Feed the Future, the US government’s global hunger and food security initiative, has opened applications for the EatSafe Innovation Challenge, which calls on innovators to share their ideas on how existing food safety innovations can be adapted and applied in traditional markets in Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Feed the Future’s EatSafe programme, run in partnership with the SUN Business Network (SBN) and the Innovative Food System Portal, is looking for entrepreneurs, students, researchers and other innovators in Nigeria and Ethiopia who are passionate about food safety.

Applicants stand a chance to participate in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge, which will take place in Denmark, where US$10,000 is up for grabs for the winning concept. The challenge will take place between April and October, and will be organised as a global initiative including national pitching events in Nigeria and Ethiopia, and a global final event that will take place in Denmark.

The participants will benefit from national and global visibility, recognition, mentorship, technical training and networking opportunities with leading industry players, investors, researchers and academia. Four winners will be chosen from each national competition to participate in the Global EatSafe Innovation Challenge Finals.
