Who Should Be On A National Startup Labelling Committee? Tunisia’s College Of Startups Provides An Insight

A new composition of the College of Startups has been announced in Tunisia in the presence of Minister of Communication Technologies Nizar Ben Néji. This critical body established under the Startup Act now includes the following members:

President of the College, Zoubeir Tourki

Zoubeir joined the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) in 2016 as Director General of University Renovation. He was the Director of Sousse’s National School of Engineers. He received his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Metz and completed a post-doctoral program at the Federal University of Fluminense.

Minister of Communication Technologies Nizar Ben Néji

Jendoubi Monia

Monia is the director of the Elghazala Technological Pole’s entrepreneurship and business development section. She specializes in establishing and developing corporate networks and international relationships, as well as designing ecosystems, communication strategies, and cluster attractiveness.

Tobji Mohamed Anis Bach

Anis is a doctor in business computers and has been the director of the University of La Manouba’s Higher School of Digital Economy since December 2020. He previously served as director of studies and internships at the same institution (2015–2020) and as head of the computer systems technology department (2011–2014).

Mbarek Aymen

Aymen worked as a venture capitalist for 12 years, mostly for two firms (Sages Capital and Alternative Capital Partners, a subsidiary of the French management business ACG Management), as well as for the IntilaQ accelerator developed by QFF, Ooredoo, and Microsoft.

Ghozzi Houda

Houda is the Founder and CEO of Open Startup, an NGO dedicated to fostering innovation ecosystems with a particular emphasis on academic collaboration.

Frad Mohamed Salah

Med Salah has vast experience in corporate finance, asset management, and financial restructuring as Managing Director of UGFS North Africa (a part of the Kipco Group). Prior to joining Kipco in 2008, he was the Research Director at MAC SA, where he oversaw the IPO of six firms.

Firas Karoui Firas

Firas Karoui Firas is a specialist in the design and implementation of innovation, business consultancy, and training programs. Its projects have been implemented in six countries across Europe, North America, and North Africa for EU and UN organizations, GIZ, Orange, and other important organizations.

Selim Ferchiou Selim

Selim Ferchiou Selim serves as vice-president of the ICT Federation and head of UTICA’s Chamber of Telephony Distributors. Additionally, he serves as the Managing Director of One Tech Mobile (One Tech Group). Selim has extensive experience working as a regional manager for companies such as Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.

Wahb Ouertani 

Entrepreneur, innovation management and digital transformation expert, and head of the national technical innovation group, Wahb is an expert in African company development and the business development manager at Himilcon, a firm with operations in numerous African nations. Wahb is also the founder of Tunisia’s Startup Alliance.

What Does The College Of Startups Do In Tunisia

Tunisia college of startups is created by virtue of Article N°6 of the law N°2018–20 on startups. Its composition, prerogatives and functioning are set by the decree N°2018–840.

Among other things, the college decides on the satisfaction of requests from startups to obtain the Startup label in the north African country.
