African Health-tech Startups Invited To Apply For Digital Square Funding

Digital Square, a global digital health effort supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and other donors, has issued its first call for African digital entrepreneurs interested in working in the health sector.

The call is open to African firms, nonprofit organisations, social enterprises, and independent entrepreneurs who have software, content, or services and intends to connect local solutions to funding, technical resources, and scaling possibilities for innovative entrepreneurs.

Qualifying participants will be included to a global list shared with donors, investors, and implementing partners that spans the whole continent. Additionally, they will be extensively publicised throughout the global health community as promising African digital health entrepreneurs.

An organisational capacity self-assessment tool from Digital Square will be made available to selected participants. This tool helps organisations become direct recipients of USAID funding and can be used to mobilise resources from a wider range of partners to support organisational capacity development and make it easier for organisations to become direct recipients of foreign funding sources.

A portion of the responses will also be given the opportunity to join the first phase of a project on the digital health ecosystem.
