Senegalese Logistics Startup Chargel Raises USD750K

Chargel, a Senegalese logistics startup, has acquired $750,000 in pre-seed capital to assist improve the efficiency, reliability, and transparency of the country’s transportation business and that of Francophone West Africa.

When Moustapha and Alioune launched Chargel, wanted to move traditional transportation operations into the digital age. Matching shippers and carriers, as well as arranging payments, fuel management, insurance and other services are part of this process. Thousands of shippers and carriers will be able to connect with the startup’s transportation network in Senegal, allowing carriers to maximize their vehicle capacity.

Century Oak Capital and Logos Ventures participated in the round, which included both equity and debt, as well as well-known angel investors from Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria. The money will be used to get the company up and running and to get it ready for another round of funding later this year.
