Nigerian Ticketing Startup, Tix Africa, Secures 6-figure Pre-seed Round

Tix Africa, a self-service ticketing business, has raised a 6-figure pre-seed round, which will be used to scale the company’s event app. During the second half of 2020, the company also expects to grow into Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, and Egypt.

According to a news release, the funds received will be used to grow Tix Africa’s development team, update the mobile app, and create Tix Pro, a recurring subscription-based service. This new round was led by HoaQ, with Ire Aderinokun and other angel investors joining in.

Nosa Oyegun and Folayemi Agusto, the founders of Tix, launched the platform’s beta in 2019. The successful but unorganized #EatDrinkFestival served as inspiration for the startup’s concept.

Users could only buy tickets and event organizers could only list an event in the first edition. Organizers may now develop and monetize a live online event, as well as collect payment using Paystack.
